Procedure

You might notice a crack in the weave of your wicker furniture. Usually, cracking is more prominent in the seat and arms and should be repaired immediately. Boil some linseed oil and pour it in a shallow dish. Wait for it to cool and soak the edge of a clean cotton rag in the oil.
Now, apply the oil on the cracked surface, thoroughly. The oil will be instantly absorbed by the dry wicker. When this happens, apply another coat of boiled linseed oil over it. Remove any excess oil with the help of paper towels and rags. Wait for about 24 hours or until the chairs dry completely before applying a fresh coat of paint over it.
Sometimes, the chair may be in top condition, but the wicker wrapped around the legs of the chair might become loose and come undone. To make sure that more wicker canning does not unravel, you need to repair it.
To do this, first, cut a long length of wicker caning and soak it in lukewarm water, and keep it in the container for about half an hour. This will make it more flexible and pliable. Now apply a tiny dab of super glue just under the edge of the loose wicker wrapping.
Next, place the new wet wicker canning over the glue and wrap its length tightly around the chair leg. When you reach its end, apply a bit of super glue where it ends and secure with a small nail or tack.
If you have a hole in the seat or any part of the chair, then trim the ends of the individual wicker canning. Once that is done, tuck the ends on the underside of the chair and apply a bit of super glue to secure it.
Take new wicker canning and cut them into the required length. Soak them in water for about half an hour and then start weaving them in the same pattern as the wicker chair. Once this is done, allow the new wicker canning to dry, before applying a fresh coat of paint to your chair.
