Tomatoes

Tomatoes are part of the family of nightshade vegetables. They contain tomatine, too much tomatine can cause redness, swelling, and leaky gut symptoms.

Eggplant

Eggplants are high in fiber, which aids in improving digestive health as well as heart health. They contain numerous vitamins and minerals. They contain two glycoalkaloids found throughout the vegetable that are toxic compounds. They can cause gastrointestinal issues. Eggplant also acts like a sponge. They soak up sauces, flavor, and unhealthy oil.

Despite being filled with nutrients, turnips also have goitrogenic substances. They may affect the thyroid’s ability to make hormones. Cooking may deactivate the goitrogenic substances, which can make the vegetable safer to consume for those with thyroid issues.

Asparagus contains purines, which can cause an overproduction of uric acid if eaten in excess. Too much uric acid can lead to painful gout attacks.

If you are taking certain medications, such as those that thin the blood, the vitamin K found in kale may lessen the effects of the drugs, which can harm your health.
