A pole shed is what should come to your mind if you are looking out to utilize your outdoor place for storage purpose. It can be very easily built in open spaces. Here we gives you an idea of how to build a pole shed.
Constructing a shed is one of the simplest options available to fulfil your storage. You can build it anywhere and for any purpose in farm to store farming equipment.
It is one of the most economical things if you compare it with the large storage barns that require a lot of space and expenditure. One needs just basic carpentry skills and a very few tools for this task. Requirements include timber, roofing material, nails, and concrete. The most important thing is to have a perfect plan.

Classification

The traditional base that is usually required for the buildings does not apply here. One can prepare the base after building the actual shed. This makes it easier to build.
There are two popular roofing types that need to be taken into account, and they are the gambrel roof (both sides containing an additional flat section) and the gable roof (roof with two flat sections set at angles, towards each other).

Building Plan

Before you start, you need a well-drawn plan of where you want to build the shed, the size, and the exact required dimensions.
You need a checklist of the materials required. This way, it will be easy for you to have an exact estimate about all the required materials without forgetting some important ones.

Selecting the ideal location is very important.
Also, check with local authorities if it is legal to build an outhouse, and if not, then taking permission becomes an important task. Not all, but in some areas, the permission of the local authority is mandatory.

Steps to be Followed

Dig holes in the ground, approximately just below the frost level using a hand-held post hole digger. It is very important for the holes to be larger than the actual size of the posts.

Make a 1 to 1½ inches of gravel base in the holes and then set the posts. This must be done to facilitate the drainage.
Filling in additional concrete is required to keep the post away from exposure to the moisture and freezing if you live in extremely cold weather.

Provide support to the poles with the help of waste 2" x 4" timber objects, until the concrete dries off.
Choose the roof truss design as per the size and the rise of the barn. Attach the roofing material that you want by using the roofing nails, without forgetting to overlap the sections.

Now just add a ridge cap on the top of the roof.
Your shed is now ready to be used. You can keep the natural dirt floor, i.e., a floor with the crushed stones. One can add the flooring as per the budget. Pole sheds must be built at a location that is near to the house or the place where the storing is required. Otherwise, it will turn out to be a lost cause.
