It is important to cover a patio to be protected from the elements. It is also important to select the correct design of the covering. Here is some of the most creative, practical, and functional covered patio designs.

A patio is one outdoor place in the house which can have all the comforts of the interior such as the furniture and electrical appliances like television, provided it is given some kind of roof covering.

The first thing that comes to mind when someone talks of a patio is a place where a person can sit comfortably, sipping his coffee, looking at the adjoining garden and enjoying the bounties of nature! Retractable awnings come with a special feature by which you can either manually or with electricity, remove the covering when not in use or when it is raining heavily outside. Permanent Roof

If you are someone who wants to enjoy all the luxuries of a room in your patio, then another interesting idea is to have a permanent roof built over it.

For this you will have to hire the services of a professional builder. You can choose from the various ideas such as "gazebos" or "pergolas". For the side coverings, invest in some quality blinds for maximum protection. The flooring can be concrete or hardwood, depending upon your choice as well as the weather conditions of the place you live in.

These are some of the designs that can beautify and enhance your patio beyond imagination. To further add to the look, there are a number of other ideas that you can consider. For instance, keep a few flower pots on the sides or hang them from the roof.

Get some traditional Chinese lamps installed to give the place an interesting and unique appeal. Having a fireplace or a pond of water overlooking the patio are some other dream scenarios that you can create!
