◾ Timber bearers and crushed stones, are sturdy options for base. Firstly, make the perimeter, starting with the corners. Timber, sharpened at one end, a square shape of roughly 2 inch length can be arranged along the perimeter of the shed floor.
◾ Check for the shape and size of the flooring, by simply verifying whether diagonal distances are equal. The level of the flooring can be estimated by using a simple apparatus of spirit level along with a timber log of suitable length.
◾ Crushed stone can provide a strong shed foundation. The only precaution one needs to take is to ensure that the size of the aggregate mixture should be unequal.
◾ The material should be of a range of stone sizes from powdered granules to pieces of 40 mm diameter. This will ensure a strong inter-locking of the segments, making a lasting foundation.

◾ A landscaping fabric can be used to act as a separating layer between stones and soil. This will avoid gradual sinking of the stones, so the foundation stays intact.
◾ Waterproofing should also be one of the prime concerns while constructing a shed floor, since wood flooring can be damaged due to sustained contact with water. The fabric used also ensures that water drains off quickly from the surface.
The stone layer should be leveled by using a vibrating plate or a hand damper. The level should be smoothed out and in order to ensure uniform level, you can even remove or add stones.
◾ Pressure-treated timber, is more resistant to moisture along with a treatment of weed barrier and stones is an excellent traditional base. Allow some space for ventilation and the installation of timber must be perpendicular to the joists.
◾ All precautionary measures, for prolonging the life of the timber will guarantee good storage shed foundation.
